As an actor, auditioning is probably the most important part of your job. You will, hopefully, go to every audition
that you can go to. You may not be called back after most of those auditions. I have been to many auditions in the past year and have only received a call back following two of them, and that is okay with me. The way I view it, my goal is not
necessarily to get a call back - although it is a great feeling - but to let every casting director I meet know who I am, what I have to offer, and that I believe in their projects and what I am presenting. This does not mean going into the room with a holier-than-thou attitude, nor does it mean to make yourself seem desperate. But you definitely want to sell your name, your face, and your product with respect for the casting director and their vision.
One thing to understand is that the casting director is looking for specific things in your product. It is not personal if
they do not give you any call back and you certainly have not wasted their time, or yours, by being there. They really
want you to do your best. If you leave an audition feeling let down or less than, you might not be in the industry for the
right reasons. Of course, we go into these auditions really wanting these roles, but if you don't fit what that specific
director is looking for, it is not your fault, and you may be perfect for the next director's vision, but you will never know
if you take it personally and do not continue to audition.
